This course is aimed at those who are responsible for the supervision, direction and instruction of scaffold operations e.g. foremen, supervisors, contract supervisors and management.
Learners who achieve the course objectives will, upon completion, be able to supervise, monitor, direct and instruct scaffold erectors in scaffold operations.
Entry requirements
Grade 7 certificate (basic maths and English literacy) or equivalent qualification.

Communication Skills
We discuss better planning, improved communication, better team and stakeholder engagement, overall view of any safety implications and getting it done right first time.
Supervisory Skills
We outline communication, conflict resolution, leadership, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, time and priority management and problem solving.
Erecting and dismantling scaffolds
We instruct learners how to erect and dismantle heavy, medium and light scaffolds.
Design Appreciation
We help learners with scaffold design expertise to enable them to increase their knowledge base to improve their service level.
Scaffold Inspection
We discuss erection of the scaffold, scaffold integrity (foundations and suitability to task), access, materials, planking, guardrails and toe boards and working on scaffolds.
Risk Assessment Project
Our students perform a risk assessment, covering issues such as slips, trips and falls, possible fatalities, possible collapse of the scaffold, fall of men and materials during erecting, vehicular collisions on site etc.
Assessment methods
We conduct a formative theoretical assessment at the beginning of the course to gauge the learner’s initial understanding (novices only). At the end of the training, a summative theoretical and practical application assessment is conducted, to find if the learner is competent; if not, additional developmental areas are identified and suggested.
