Save both fuel and operational costs with HRETD's "Economic Driving Skills and Techniques" course. Aimed at optimising driving behaviour for financial and environmental benefits, this course covers principles such as efficient acceleration, proper gear usage, and predictive driving. Multimedia elements like quizzes and videos enrich the learning experience.
Maximize Efficiency. Understanding the correlation between driving habits and fuel consumption can substantially impact your bottom line. Through hands-on exercises and real-world simulations, participants will learn how to minimize wear and tear on vehicles, thereby reducing maintenance costs and extending vehicle lifespan.
Drive Smart, Drive Green. Besides the obvious economic benefits, adopting these driving techniques also contributes to lower carbon emissions, making it a win-win for both organisations and the environment.
Entry requirements

Course content
Introduction to Economic Driving
In the introduction to economic driving, we discuss with learners the
importance of economic driving, understanding vehicle fuel consumption, the
relationship between driving behaviour and fuel efficiency and environmental
impact of driving.
Vehicle Maintenance and Preparation
We coach learners on the importance of proper vehicle maintenance for
economic driving, the relationship between tire pressure and fuel efficiency,
engine oil and fuel consumption, air filters and fuel efficiency, and preparing
your vehicle for optimal fuel efficiency
Optimal Driving Techniques
We consider understanding engine efficiency and power bands, optimal gear
shifting techniques, smooth acceleration and deceleration, cruise control and
fuel efficiency and eco-driving mode and its benefits.
Smart Route Planning and Navigation
We discuss the impact of route selection on fuel consumption, utilizing GPS
and navigation apps for efficient route planning, avoiding traffic congestion,
anticipating road conditions and adjusting driving behaviour, and optimal
driving speed for fuel efficiency.
Defensive Driving and Real-World Application
We discuss defensive driving and its impact on fuel efficiency, the role of
speed, following distance, and reaction time in economic driving, managing
aggressive driving and road rage, and real-world scenarios and best practices.
Assessment methods
We conduct a formative theoretical assessment at the beginning of the course to gauge the learner’s initial understanding (novices only). At the end of the training, a summative theoretical and practical application assessment is conducted, to find if the learner is competent; if not, additional developmental areas are identified and suggested.
